Queen of Heaven

Queen of Heaven 

I look up to the sky

on this mid-August day

watching clouds skimming

across the blue in the sun.

I believe this immensity

has been brought to a point,

microcosm containing macrocosm

in the Virgin’s womb.

In return Mary is assumed,

a human being reigns above, 

the divine One she bore

makes her Queen of Heaven.

A ‘three-decker’ universe 

has gone but not left us.

The sky invites aspiration to 

grandeur beyond put within reach.
